Bird Protection Quebec's Field Trip Report for Saturday February 14th

Montreal
Winter at the Mount Royal Cemetery and Mt. Royal:

11 birders and 11 species.. Wind chill minus 22C... as actually measured on an instrument carried by one of our members.

BIRD OF THE DAY (TAKE YOUR PICK ) Common Redpoll / Pine Siskin

Rock Pigeon 5, American Crow 5, Black-capped Chickadee 30, White-breasted nuthatch 3, American robin 4, Northern Cardinal 1, Pine Grosbeak (M) 1, House Finch 4, Common Redpoll 40 *, Pine Siskin 10 *, American Goldfinch 1

* at Mt. Royal feeders............. Mobility in the cemetery was very restricted due to icy conditions.** NO woodpeckers, NO House Sparrows, NO Eurorean Starlings

You are all invited to bird the cemetery, especially from mid-March through late November.

This past spring and summer has been very busy.... with loads of bluebirds,vireos, warblers, flycatchers, Merlins, Cooper's and Sharp-shinned, various woodpeckers etc.

Quite a different experience from the dreadful cold days of mid winter
