Bird Protection Quebec's Field Trip Report - Saturday April 30th

L'île de la Visitation nature park

With a beautiful sunny morning, 39+ people showed up, no doubt all wanted to get some sun-rays after this week's weather and a Canadien's loss . A total of 46 species were observed, like two Spotted Sandpiper, beautiful Wood ducks, Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, and how could we forget our Ruby-crowned Kinglet, no doubt impressed by the group, who was giving us a little show! Maybe he was getting ready to audition for American Idol?

Also many of us were able to observe the Hermit Thrush, and the Yellow-rumped warblers , who seem to be everywhere in the park. But the best as usually came towards the end of the trip, with the appearance of a beautiful Palm Warbler, that eveyone was able to see and enjoy. Also a couple of beautiful Blue headed Vireos appeared , as well as a Brown Thrasher. Just before the field trip began in the morning, I was also able to observe a Black-crowned Night-Heron, Belted Kingfisher, Veery, and Fox Sparrow.
