2015 Summer Series of Birding - Field Trip #6 - Saturday, August 1

This week we will be heading out on a driving trip close to the U.S. border in the Lacolle, Noyan and Henryville regions. We'll be visiting some waterfront areas and marshes south of Highway 202 in Lacolle and Noyan. Then we will head north to the Henryville area exploring locations on rang des Cotes, rang Melaven and chemin d’Henryville, including the Henryville Marsh.

We will meet at the Esso gas station/truck stop parking lot at Exit 6.from Highway 15 South. This is the exit for Highway 202-Lacolle/Hemmingford (it is also the exit for Parc Safari). You will see the gas station directly in front of you as you come off the exit.

DATE: Saturday, August 1
MEETING TIME: 8 am - Half-day + driving trip, extending past lunch
MEETING PLACE: The parking lot of the Esso gas station/truck stop – Exit 6 from Highway 15 (Lacolle/Hemmingford/Parc Safari exit)

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS: From Montreal, take Champlain Bridge, Mercier Bridge, or Highway 30 to Highway 15 South –Direction Lacolle, QC/Champlain, NY border crossing.

ITINERARY: We’ll be driving east from the meeting spot and heading south of Highway 202 to both the western and eastern shores of the Richelieu River/Lake Champlain, down to the U.S. border. We’ll then head further east heading north of Highway 202 into the Henryville area, exploring rang des Cotes, rang Melaven and chemin d’Henryville. The trip will extend past noon, so please consider bringing your lunch along as there are several spots along the route where we could take a break for lunch.
