2015 Summer Series of Birding - Field Trip #7 - Saturday, August 8

This week we will be making an exploratory driving trip, meeting in Vaudreuil-Dorion and then heading south following the waterfront to Pointe-des-Cascades, QC. We visited the park at Pointe-des-Cascades last summer. However, this time, we'll skip the park and instead continue west along chemin du Fleuve towards Coteau-du-Lac. From there, we'll head back north on to some of the rural farm roads north of Highway 20, west of St-Lazare.

DESTINATION: Vaudreuil-Dorion, and points beyond south and west

TIME: 8 am
MEETING PLACE:
Parking lot of Au Vieux Duluth Restaurant, 250 Harwood Blvd (Highway 20) at the corner of Highway 338 (ch. De Lotbiniere) in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

DURATION: Half-day driving trip

Driving Instructions: Take Highway 20 West to Vaudreuil-Dorion. At the intersection of Highway 20 (Harwood) and Highway 338 (ch. Lotbiniere), you will see the Au Vieux Duluth restaurant at 250 Harwood, on the south-west corner of the intersection. Meet in the parking lot.

Itinerary: From the meeting point in Vaudreuil-Dorion, we will drive south on Highway 338 to Pointe des Cascades to chemin du Fleuve. We'll then head west, stopping at numerous points along the route. Ch. du Fleuve offers numerous look-out spots on to the water, plus it also crosses through farm fields and grasslands that can also produce some interesting birds. We'll continue along ch. du Fleuve to the town of Coteau-du-Lac. Here we will explore the historic park at the waterfront. Next we will head north, crossing Highway 20 and exploring some secondary rural roads through farm areas and grasslands.
